Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to break royal rules during her pregnancy. Since the day these two got engaged, they have been living life their way bucking some royal traditions and preparing for their first child is no exception.

The Duchess of Sussex has been making headlines for throwing caution to the wind when it comes to specific rules the royal family must follow. Now, in all honesty, some of them are a little outdated. Therefore, it is easy to see why Markle is choosing to ignore a couple of the less essential rules.

Meghan Markle’s maternity style

Last October, Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy at the beginning of a 16-day tour of the South Pacific, and went on to set a high bar for maternity style. Little did we know that Meghan’s style in Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji was pic.twitter.com/JOTLxxoD4G

One rule the Duchess is not a fan of is the denial of wearing open-toed shoes. In January, she wore a pair of tan open-toed shoes to the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem premiere in London. Choosing to buck the closed toe only shoe rule is one the former Suits star has been ditching since she became engaged to Prince Harry. Furthermore, Markle also opts to wear colored nail-polish on her toenails for everyone to see, which is also a no-no.

The most significant pregnancy royal rule Markle has broken is having a baby shower not thrown by the royal family. In February, the soon to be the first-time mom flew to New York City to have an ultra-private shower with a few of her closest friends. No one from the royal family was in attendance.

Markle’s maternity style has also come under fire as her baby bump grew. One of the royal rules is pregnant royals are not allowed to wear form-fitting or tight clothes that show off their baby bump. The former actress has not adhered to it on several occasions. Instead of concealing her bump in loose-fitting clothes, the Duchess has chosen those that accent her belly.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are going to be parents any day now. In keeping up with living royal life their way, the couple may not welcome their first child at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. The infamous Lindo Wing is where Prince William and Kate Middleton had all three of their children. Both Prince Harry and Prince William were born there too, as well a slew of other royal family members.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have officially moved to their new home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, so they may choose to have the baby at a hospital closer to home. There have also been reports that Markle may opt for a home birth been confirmed.
