Matthew Albright Obituary, Death – A man and his sister were injured in a motorcycle accident on Delaware Route 1 southbound north of Smyrna on Sunday night, according to the Delaware State Police. The man’s sister is in critical condition. James E. Smith, 53, of Dover, Delaware, and his sister were traveling southbound on Interstate 95 near Exit 119 on a motorcycle that James owned and operated and it was a 2007 Honda VTX1300R. Smith is said to have lost control of the motorcycle due to a mechanical fault,

which resulted in both him and his passenger being thrown to the ground. Kimberly Smith was transported to Kent General Hospital by state police via air ambulance, where she was subsequently admitted in critical condition. The state police credited her survival to “advanced lifesaving efforts” carried out by the paramedics. James Smith was brought to Kent General Hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries, which did not pose a threat to his life. It does not appear that speeding or the use of alcohol were issues in this case.

While the accident was being investigated and cleared up, Delaware Route 1 was shut down for roughly three and a half hours. To get in touch with Matthew Albright, you can email him at malbright@delawareonline.com, call him at (302) 324-2428, or follow him on Twitter at @TNJ_malbright.
