Maddie Ziegler apologized on her social media for posting “racially insensitive” content on her social media accounts when she was younger. Page Six picked up on the post from Maddie today in which she said she was sorry for mocking people’s accents when she was 9-years-old.
Ziegler claimed she thought accents were very funny when she was a child. She added, “I’m honestly ashamed and I’m truly sorry for my actions.” You can check out what Maddie had to say in the Twitter post below:

As fans of Ziegler know, she first gained national attention when she was 8-years-old on Dance Moms. More importantly, she gained further attention for appearing in the music videos of Sia.
Regarding her social media posts, Ziegler explained how growing up in the spotlight comes with a lot of learning experiences from which a person has to learn. As most know, this wouldn’t be the first time someone involved with Dance Moms apologized for ostensibly racist remarks.
Back in June of this year, Abby Lee Miller was accused of racism and she apologized in the same month. Ziegler has been in the headlines for other reasons this summer as well, albeit indirectly.
During an interview, Sia explained how she went out of her way to discourage Ziegler’s parents from allowing the young girl to go on an airplane that had Harvey Weinstein on it. Sia, amid her telling of the story, described Weinstein as “disgusting.”
Sia said she didn’t want Maddie going anywhere near Harvey, who has been accused of using his position in Hollywood to trap women into sexual relationships they didn’t want to be in. Harvey was convicted and sentenced to over twenty years in prison earlier this year.

Back in 2018, Ziegler was also in the headlines over rumors she was in a relationship with Kailand Morris, the son of Stevie Wonder. Sources who spoke with Entertainment Tonight claimed Maddie and Kailand met during a dance competition in which their siblings were performing.
