EXCLUSIVE: Interview With DJ Ironik

May 2024 · 3 minute read

DJ and producer Ironik shot to fame aged 19, and since then he has worked with a huge roster of talents such as Tinie Tempah, and Chip. Ironik later made his debut as an artist with the release of ‘So Nice’.

His album ‘Truth be Told’ was released last September and featured big names such as Snoop Dogg and Big Tobz. And he is now gearing up to release his latest music video.

Here we speak exclusively to DJ Ironik about his musical icons, working with renowned artists, future plans and much, much more;

Who inspired your love of music?

I’d say my biggest inspirations were my family members, from my mum and dad blaring music in the morning or the evening of all different sounds from Reggae to Hip Hop and UK Garage. Also, my uncle who is an established club night promoter was a major part of me first falling in love with urban/UK music.

Who are your musical icons?

My musical icons range from the legendary Michael Jackson to the newer artists like Kanye West and also UK icons like Wiley & Dizzee Rascal.

You’ve worked with some massive names in the industry, can we expect any more collabs this year?

Most definitely, that’s what I want to do more of this year. More collaborations and features with a few of the new artists coming out or the established artists that I’m already fans of.

Who would you like to work with in the near future?

I’d love to work with Alicia Keys or Adele one day. I think we’d make some heart felt music. I would also like to work with a few rock bands Kings of Leon or The Kooks maybe.

What do you hope listeners take from your music?

I hope there’s always a message in majority of my songs. Something they can take from my lyrics etc. Whether it’s a deep story telling song or a fun song, there’s always a message somewhere.

Will you be touring this year?

I hope so, I have a few things to announce in the next few months for the summer. Mostly a lot of DJ parties I will be holding around Europe in some of the biggest summer hot spots. I would also like to tour the new album before the end of the year too.

You released an LP last year, are you planning another record this year?

It took me 8 years to release my second album so I doubt it would take me a year to release another lol, but I am always in the studio right now so more new music will most definitely be on the way, maybe an EP? I’ll have to see.

What are your 2018 career goals?

My goals as I’m getting older are just to enjoy life more, take in a lot of the moments. Also keep working hard of course, but mostly enjoy it. More videos, more content and more big parties to hold!
