ALBUM REVIEW: Hannah Scott's 'Pieces Of The Night'

May 2024 · 3 minute read

On June 22nd, fast rising folk infused country artist Hannah Scott will release her eagerly anticipated new album to the world; ‘Pieces Of The Night’. Speaking about the record, Scott says: “These are songs celebrating family and friendship, songs in praise of the differences between us, songs encouraging hope and strength in the face of adversity. We hope that they will inspire people to believe that each and every one of us has something to give.”

The LP was co-written with Stefano Della Casa. Here we review the record in advance of its release next week;

The record opens with sweet, melodic pleasing title track that is the perfect opening for the album. Hannah Scott’s vocals are soaring, rich and very relaxing to listen to. She transports you to another world as her lyrics and melodies wash over you like the ocean.

Up next is ‘Weight of Your Worlds’ which is a track that will resonate with listeners of all ages. We have all felt at times as if the world is weighing on our shoulders and this stunning song puts those feelings into words. It’s a powerful track and showcases Scott’s wonderful talent.

At number 3 is the stripped back ‘Hearth Of My Home’. This has a different vibe to the first tracks and has more of pop/folk feel and the result is brilliant. It’s one of the best songs on the record and will no doubt become a firm fan favourite.

At number 4 is ‘Dust and Doubt’. Hannah’s vocals have a haunting tone in this number and lyrically it’s darker than the rest of the album but it will strike a chord with many fans. It’s not my favourite on the LP, but it’s a grower and after a few listens it will eventually become a standout.

Up next is ‘No Gravity’. This is another hauntingly stunning song that highlights the vocal talents of Hannah. It has a stunning country/folk vibe and it’s a real standout on the new album. It will be a real highlight of future live sets.

Next is the sonically beautiful ‘Signs Of Life’. This is without doubt one of the best tracks on the ‘Pieces Of The Night’ LP and it’s one of the best songs that Scott has ever recorded. For me this elevates the whole project to a new level and has the opportunity to become a real breakout hit.

The penultimate track on the record is the beautiful ‘This Is Not An Ending’ and it is a truly enchanting number that draws you in from the first note. It’s a real special moment on the new album and showcases the haunting vocal of Hannah Scott.

The LP comes to a close with the piano heavy ‘Boy In The Frame’ and it is a wonderful way to bring the record to a close. It brings the whole project together and the whole vibe of the record is included on the last song.

RATING: 3.5/5
